How will we ever get this thing in there?
In Spokane (03/05/06) Ron has bought the project. Standing around debating how we're going to get this thing in there. The widest part of the fuselage is the gear, and it's just a smidgeon too wide to fit through the door, going straight in. Will it work

Hoist and turn
Here we are lifting the fuselage into the 26-ft. U-Haul for its trip from Spokane to California. The gear wouldn't fit through the rear door straight in, but would just barely fit if the fuselage went in slanted, with one wheel first, then the other. Left

Over the hump
About this point, Jim is hunkered down trying to figure out how the gear can be lifted up over the wheel wells inside the U-Haul truck, while his friend John does the real lifting. Hmmm.

Packing is fun
We decided to swing the tail over to starboard, so it could be secured to the right side wall, and leave the underneath accessible for a wing. Ron can't stop grinning.

It's in, now what?
The fuselage fits! John is happy not to be holding that tail any more. Now we have to figure how to securely and safely tie it down in some fashion that will leave room for the wings and all the other stuff.
